Rally Guanajuato Corona is a motor-racing fiesta for the whole of Mexico, and the state of Guanajuato in particular. Over the years, the event has sought to provide new experiences for the public, whether it’s those who set off up into the mountains to see and hear the powerful World Rally Cars or those watching the work of the various teams and living the party atmosphere at the Rally Campus.

This year, Sunday, March 8 will be a particularly special day, when not only will we see the drivers fighting for their place on the rally podium but also 1,200 members of the public taking part in the first edition of the Rally Guanajuato Corona 5 km and 10 km fun run, under the banner Correr es mi Vida (“Running is my Life”).

According to director of Rally Guanajuato Mexico Gilles Spitalier, the philosophy behind the event has always been one in which innovation and the well-being of families go hand in hand. “Finding ways to benefit people’s welfare is part of our DNA. This time around, we are proud to be promoting sports and physical activity through an event watched by millions of people worldwide. I’d like to thank the state and local sports authorities [for their help in this endeavour], particularly Mr. Isaac Piña.”

The fun run itself will feature four men’s and women’s age categories for each distance: Junior (ages 19 and under), Open (ages 20-39), Master (ages 40-49), and Senior (ages 50+).

The starting line for the run will be at the Teatro Bicentenario theatre on Vasco de Quiroga street, with the first group setting off at 08:00 a.m.
There’s a 200-peso registration fee for those wishing to take part, which also gets you the fun run package consisting of a commemorative T-shirt, competitor number (including a timing chip), and a free four-day pass to the Rally Campus to see all of the action taking place there during the World Rally Championship event here in Guanajuato.
