The New Zealand driver was really fast with his Hyundai i20 New Generation in Villa Carlos Paz – Cabalango stage letting everybody know that he will fight for the victory. Volkswagen Motorsport team drivers Jari-Matti Latvala and Sebastien Ogier finished in second and third place.

Hayden Paddon (Hyundai Motorsport) was the fastest driver at the Shakedown  (6.01kms)with a time of 4m02s9. This result shows that YPF Rally Argentina 2016 might be full of surprises.

Two Volkswagen Motorsport drivers finished just behind the New Zealand driver. Jari-Matti Latvala, winner of the 2014 edition, finished in second place 1s3 behind Paddon. Third place was for the three-times world champion Sébastien Ogier, who was two seconds slower than the Hyundai driver.

Top 5 was completed by the Spanish driver Dani Sordo (New Generation Hyundai i20) and Andreas Mikkelsen (Volkwagen Polo R).
