Rome, Sunday 22nd July 2018 - The 6th Rally di Roma Capitale, valid for the Italian Rally Championship and for the FIA ​​European Championship, ended as a unique event due to the efforts made by the organizers of Motorsport Italia guided by Max Rendina, but also and above all, beyond the technical aspects, however important, for the beautiful settings which framed it. From the spectacular incipit, with Rome that opens completely and welcomes the race in its most extraordinary places, from Castel Sant'Angelo, through the center of the Eternal City and then continued with the show at the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana in EUR.
A race that was decided in the beautiful scenery of the area of ​​the frusinate between Fiuggi, Guarcino, Pico, Roccasecca, Santopadre and ended on the Lungomare of Ostia where the race and its protagonists have been embraced by a huge crowd. A difficult and tough race, presented on the eve as a close match between the big names of the Italian and the European championships, but almost immediately split into two separate races where the ranking reasons of the two series heavily influenced the pilots' tactics. Two races in the stage that saw the "Europeans" still being protagonists, with the exception of the splendid race of Giandomenico Basso, the only one able to fight with his Skoda Fabia R5 up to the finish line for the first position. The first position went to the Russians Alexey Lukyanuk and Alexey Arnautov, Ford Fiesta R5, who in fact dominated the race, showing that the pace of the best European drivers is really high.

Second overall, the Venetian Giandomenico Basso, together with Moira Lucca, not registered with CIR, was the only one to stop the parade of foreigners on a Skoda Fabia R5 which then continued with the Polish Grzegorz Grzyb, the German Fabian Kreim , the Portuguese Bruno Magalhaes, all on Skoda Fabia R5. Race to forget instead for the big Italian Rally Championship with various problems that have stopped Umberto Scandola before, withdrawal due to a serious problem to the transmission of his Skoda Fabia R5, then Simone Campedelli, very fast with his Ford Fiesta R5 Orange 1Racing, withdrawal for a double consecutive drilling and finally Paolo Andreucci, Peugeot 208 T16, who stopped when seemed to be launched towards an excellent placement and yet another first position of the season among the members of the Italian flag. So for the important scores of the CIR the first place went to Giacomo Scattolon, here flanked by Matteo Nobili on Skoda Fabia R5, a pilot who is proving to have a good potential, in front of Antonio Rusce, with his navigator Sauro Farnocchia on Ford Fiesta R5, and Marco Pollara, together with Giuseppe Princiotto, on Peugeot 208 T16. Among the members of CIR Junior a race run from start to finish by Damiano De Tommaso, along with Michele Ferrara who finished first with his Peugeot 208 R2, dominating in fact on his opponents who had more than a few problems like Andrea Mazzocchi, Alessandro Nerobutto, and the Tuscan Tommaso Ciuffi and Jacopo Trevisani went out of the way on the penultimate test. With this result, De Tommaso has taken away the satisfaction of getting the victory in the capital even in the Italian two-wheel drive. Among the Renault Clio R3T, running for the trophy, remains in front of Ivan Ferrarotti in front of Riccardo Canzian. As for the battle between the members of the Suzuki Rally Trophy as already predicted the challenge was concentrated throughout the crews of Giorgio Cogni and Stefano Martinelli and that saw at the end Cogni as a winner, at its fourth seasonal success. Among the Renault Twingo R1 Alberto Paris dominated realizing also the best scratch among the R1 cars in the Pico special test.

Nordgren-Suominen (Skoda Fabia R5) a 2’34”7; 8. Scattolon-Nobili ( Skoda Fabia R5) a 2’56”2 ;  9.Rusce-Farnocchia (Ford Fiesta R5) a 3’08”4; 10. Ahlim- Sjoberg (Skdoa Fabia R5) a3’17”0
