There are not changes in stage 7. But in stage 8 Latvala lost his third position while Daniel Sordo moved to third. Latvala spin and lost 36 seconds in SS 8 Peterberg 1 (9.37km).

Latvala: "I spun it. Under braking there was a bit more dampness than I thought. No damage, but I got stuck and had to reverse, then go forwards and finally I got back, but I lost a lot of time. Now I need to concentrate on third place. Petter [Solberg] has gone and Loeb is too far away."
Loeb:  "You've just got to keep the speed in the corner, and the road is as wide as the car here so if you lose it once, you're off. We don't want to make a mistake, we have a good lead."
Sordo: "I didn't take a lot of risks, I just drove and braked normally. It was tricky with hard tyres in the wet, but we needed to do it. It's good but the rally is really long and now there's a really important stage for everyone with Panzerplatte."

In the longest rally stage SS 9 Arena Panzerplatte 1 (46.54 kilometres) Petter Solberg, Thierry Neuville and Daniel Sordo hit problems. Neuville out of the road and finished the day 2 to retire.
Petter Solberg damages his right rear and is unknown whether he can goes on.
Daniel Sordo has a puncture as he explains: "We had a really slow puncture at the beginning of the stage and we drove a little bit like that because we weren't sure if it was the tyres moving or a puncture because it was so slow. When the tyre went out, we decided to stop and change it. We lost a lot of time, and afterwards we didn't do very well."
Sebastien Loeb wins the longest rally stage with 0.8 seconds faster than Latvala.
Results after SS 9:
1. S. Loeb 2:11:08.6
2. J. Latvala +1:29.7
3. M. Hirvonen +2:05.0
4. M. Ostberg +2:47.9
5. O. Tanak +2:48.7
6. D. Sordo +3:57.0

There are 3 stages to go to the end of day 2.
