Loeb moves to 6th position. Latvala continue pushing to the limit

Sebastien Loeb finally moves one position ahead after stage Sagen 2 (14.23km). Henning Solberg lost sixth position as was 3.3 seconds slower by the world champion. Mads Ostberg lose 7.7 by Petter Solberg as the Ford driver keeps successfully the third position overall.
The winner in stage 16 is Latvala who set the best time 2.2 seconds faster than his teammate Petter Solberg.

4. M. Ostberg +1:00.6

Two stages remain till the end of day 2, as these stages are Fredriksberg 2 18.15 km and Hagfors Sprint 2 1.87 km.
 



Jari and Mikko battle with 0.1 seconds difference in stage 15

Henning Solberg lost 12 seconds by Sebastien Loeb in stage 15 as close the difference to 0.6 seconds only. Latvala takes a new stage win with 0.1 seconds advantage to Mikko Hirvonen only.

Comments after SS 15:
Latvala: "I tried to save my tyres. I was a little bit worried as there was so much gravel on the road not to destroy the tyres. I preferred to back off a bit."
Hirvonen: "It went really well, and I tried to be sensible with the tyres as well, so let's see how it's going to go overall."

Latvala leads to Hirvonen with 18.6 seconds after the half of day 2

The first half of day 2 of Rally Sweden is over. Latvala keeps his position.
Hirvonen wins stage 13 with 1.9 seconds faster than Latvala. Sebastien Loeb remains third at 6.1 seconds. In the overall standing after SS 13 there is not changes.
The short stage Hagfors Sprint with 1.87 km is winning by O. Tanak followed by Sebastien Loeb. There are not changes in the overall standing.

Drivers comments after SS 13:
Hirvonen: "It's very, very close. But I really love it. It's nice to have a good fight, and in a new car as well. I'm trying to take some time out of him and put some pressure on him. I've definitely been pushing really hard this morning. But there's always a little bit more left..."
Latvala: "I didn't have a comfortable feeling, it felt very, very slippy and difficult to get the grip on this stage. I took it a bit too steady at the beginning of the stage. I could've improved."

Latvala is already 20 seconds ahead Hirvonen after SS 12

In the first stage for day 2 Jari-Matti Latvala continue to push as set the best time 2.2 seconds faster than Mikko Hirvonen. Petter Solberg delay with almost 10 seconds by Mikko.
In stage 12 the second for day 2 Latvala again set the fastest time with 0.9 seconds faster than Mikko.

Latvala comment stage 11: "It looked like at the beginning of the stage Mikko was already two seconds ahead of me, so I was slightly stressed at that moment. It was a part of the stage I have never driven very well. But after that I found a good rhythm on the fast, wider roads."
Mikko Hirvonen also comments the battle with his former teammate: "I'm trying to push really hard but obviously he can see my splits and he's definitely fighting back. I'll really, really try to keep pressure on him and go as fast as I can."
Mads Ostberg comment: "Out of service we had a puncture, just after tyre marking. I only have a used spare so we are running on the left rear with a previously used right hand tyre. I was a bit angry, so I pushed quite hard..."
Sebastien Loeb comments: "It was difficult to find the rhythm in this one, I was not so confidant. The grip was changing a lot with the snow."
 



Petter Solberg close Mikko Hirvoen for the battle for second place

Petter Solberg close Mikko Hirvoen for the battle for second place. The first Ford driver Jari-Matti Latvala continue to lead after day 1 followed by his former teammate Mikko Hirvonen.
Dani Sordo is out of the rally and will not restart the rally. He went off in the snow bank that caused a radiator blockage followed by alternator belt jumping off the unit. As a result the car overheat and went into safe mode. Dani delays with his stop and cause serious damage to the engine. Patrik Sandell is the only one driver for Prodrive as currently is at eight position overall.
In day 1 was very positive for Novikov who is fifth overall driving for M-Sport. Sebastien Loeb made mistake and lose two minutes but continue undamaged while Sordo is out of the rally.

1. J. Latvala 1:23:50.8
2. M. Hirvonen +16.8
3. P. Solberg +18.6
4. M. Ostberg +32.3
5. E. Novikov +1:12.1
6. H. Solberg +1:48.5

Latvala extended his rally lead in Stage 9

Latvala is the man of the day. He extends his overall leader position to 17.2 seconds by Mikko Hirvonen who is all day much closer to the Ford driver. In stage 9 Torsby (19.21km) Petter Solberg takes stage victory with 7.4 faster than his teammate Latvala.

3. P. Solberg +20.0
4. M. Ostberg +31.6
5. E. Novikov +1:11.5
6. H. Solberg +1:46.8
Karlstad 2 1.9 km is the last stage for day 1 to go.
