I started gaining back my driving in the afternoon. I try to catch him tomorrow but it's like in Finland, where the differences are in seconds!" Solberg: "I have one spare now, I had two. It's not bad. A lot happened today, but it's ok. I am happy. I will try catching Loeb. It's a big and rough day and a lot can happen." Hirvonen: "We had another puncture. I went wide in one corner, we hit a bank. I couldn't see from the dust of Ostberg." Neuville: "I had a problem with the driveshaft and the car is rear wheel drive. I just took away the broken driveshaft. I wasn't carrying a spare one."

Novikov and Tanak with problems in stage 7. Latvala close the gap with Loeb. Posted by WRC - 25/05/12 01:40PM - 0 Comments - WRC -
Latvala win stage 7 Bauxites 2 (23.17km). Second is SebastienLoeb at +0.7 seconds; third is Petter Solberg at +3.5 seconds. In stage 7 OttTanak went off the road and damage his Ford Fiesta. OttTanak explains what happens: "We made a correction on the pacenotesdurng the previous [running of the stage] and we made it to the wrong place, the corner before, and we were too fast. We went off and came back on, but we got a puncture, and then bent the suspension." Mechanical problems for Novikov cause him delay of over a minute. Novikovsays: "We had a problem with the engine. It's not a misfire, maybe something with the turbo, I don't know.” Latvala: "Okay, there is quite a distance to Loeb, but now we are going in the right way." Loeb: "It was okay, I saw a little bit of dust. I heard Tanak had stopped, so I was thinking he had started just before me. I didn't lose any time with it." Solberg: "The impact knocked the rear diff up into the subframe and the propshaft was touching the subframe. We'd lost some bolts but the boys fixed it and we got a spacer in to put some space between the subframe and the diff. None of this was a problem but if we hadn't put the spacer in, it might've been."
Comments by the remote service 2: Latvala: "We have a couple ideas for the set up of the car and the bumpers. I need to improve my time in the start of the stages. It's still a long Rally. Sebastian is attacking and I'll try to be close to him." Solberg: "There is nothing to replace. Something is touching underneath the car and makes noise. I hit heavily the diffguard. We are checking it." Loeb: "Ok at the moment. We are leading but it's tricky and muddy. Strange for Greece. I was at maximum attack in the last stage. I will keep up the same way." Hirvonen: "In the morning, it was a little bit more difficult. Now it was a little bit better -we are still in the fight. The stages had more mud and were more wet than we thought."
Results after SS 7:
1. S. Loeb 1:43:54.9
2. J. Latvala +9.4
3. M. Hirvonen +18.6
4. P. Solberg +19.6
5. M. Ostberg +1:36.9
6. T. Neuville +2:31.7
Better stages 5 and 6 for Loeb and Hirvonen Posted by WRC - 25/05/12 11:23AM - 0 Comments - WRC -
MikkoHirvonen is with the first stage win in Acropolis 2012. Hirvonen win stage 5 Bauxites 1 (23.17km) 1.1 seconds faster than Loeb and 5.6 seconds faster than Latvala. Loeb extends his lead against Latvala who is second in the overall standing after SS 5. Latvala explains his delay in SS 5: "I am not happy with the car on the hard surfaces. It takes too much time to warm the tires. We almost have a spin. We were eight seconds slower at the start and we managed to gain four in the end." The stage winner MikkoHirvonen says: "We were pushing hard. We were equal to Sebastien. We expected it to be dry but there was mud and it was slippery. We will see." Rally leader Loeb: "Mikko was one second faster but it was a tricky stage with mud and some water splashes. But it's ok. Just the slippery part was difficult with the hard tires. We don't have a real information about the conditions and the tire choice and I think that everybody are using the hard tires." Petter Solberg: "We took two spares. It is some extra weight, but we are going to use them both in the next stage."
In Stage 6 Drossohori (22km) SebastienLoeb win followed by T. Neuville at 3.4 seconds and Latvala at +4.4 seconds. MikkoHirvonen moved to third position as Petter Solberg back at 4th position.

Latvala lost the leading position, Solberg move ahead, Loeb is the new leader Posted by WRC - 25/05/12 09:46AM - 0 Comments - WRC -
The different between the first three in stage 3 Thiva 1 (23.6km) is 0.2 seconds only. The advantage is for Latvala who win stage 3 with 0.1 seconds faster than Loeb and 0.2 than Petter Solberg. The rain at the end of the stage and the unpredictable weather and the tyrechoise is decidable for the rally positions.
Comments after SS 3: Latvala: "At the end, the last two kilometres, it's been maybe raining at some point so it's a bit slippery and muddy in some corners, so it was a little bit scary, but we're okay." Solberg: "It's not very good today. It's very difficult and I am struggling, particularly in the right corners. We have to complete one more stage and see what we can change. I don't think we can make anything until we come to the service." Loeb: "It was a good stage. It was tricky, with changing conditions. I didn't expect rain, so I didn't choose the soft compound. No big difference. It's ok until now. We have only one spare and I hope we made the right decision." Hirvonen: "We had a front left puncture. There was a lot of understeer in the end of the stage because of the hard tires."
In stage 4Latvala lost the leader position. He was 14.2 seconds slower than his teammate Petter Solberg who win stage 4 Elikonas 1 (19.89km). In the overall standing SebastienLoeb move in front as Petter Solberg is third second is Latvala.
Mistake of Latvala cause his to loss 14.2 seconds by Petter and 4.5 seconds by Loeb.
Latvala: "The splits were looking really, really, really good, I think we were ahead of Loeb. But before one junction, the corner before was really, really muddy. I locked the front wheels and the engine stopped. I couldn't turn into the corner, so I did a little overshoot. I lost maybe five to 10 seconds." Loeb: "I don't know what happened in that stage. I was pushing hard. I saw the splits, I was pushing hard, I had a good feeling, but I don't know." Solberg: "It was very muddy. Not a bad time. I am happy with that. We are looking forward to make the car better. We will find what happened for sure. There were some muddy corners."
"In the morning, after 1-2 kilometers, something was wrong. We will try to see if we can fix it now. I was just a little bit angry in Thiva and pushed. Tomorrow I want to have the same road position, as today and I will push in the afternoon. " Hirvonen: "Very slippery and tricky, almost overshoot a junction. It was really slippery."
"We are still in the game, maybe we could be 4-5 seconds closer. Not bad. We went straight in a junction and we made a mistake. We could avoid it. The next stage is going to be very hard for the tires. It's difficult to decide what tires to take."
Results after SS 4:
1. S. Loeb 57:41.9
2. J. Latvala +1.2
3. P. Solberg +4.5
4. M. Hirvonen +11.0
5. E. Novikov +43.2
6. M. Ostberg +51.6

Comments after SS 2: Loeb: "It's ok. A little bit of difficult because of the loose gravel. We made some small mistakes." Hirvonen: "Not too bad. The big tire wear is maybe because of the rocks." Latvala: "I try to be fast. In the beginning were some difficult places. I try to keep going and be cautious." Solberg: "Something is wrong. The car is very difficult to drive. I have to think what this is. The balance is not good. There is big difference between the corners." Tanak: "No problems with the tire. Everything is ok. No dramas." The tire was a little bit off the rim. Novikov: "Very difficult, the downhill was very fast and quite slippery. The pace was good for us." Al-Attiyah: "It's very difficult. Very loose stage. The last part is with a lot of loose rocks and the balance of the car is very difficult. Long day, we are here and everything is OK." Neuville: "The car was much better. But I spun in the first kilometers. But ok- it is a long day and a Rally. The car is ok after the spin and I am happy about that."

Petter Solberg is the fastest in the qualified stage today in Greece Posted by WRC - 24/05/12 02:10PM - 0 Comments - WRC -
Petter Solberg set the fastest time in 6.2 km test near Loutraki who choose 13 starting position. Second in the test was his teammate Jari-MattiLatvala.
Petter says: It’s good to be first, very important in fact. The car works well and we should be strong for this rally. I feel confidant and think I will start further down. Even when it’s raining it dries very quick when it stops. The best choice is to start further back for sure.
I think that this is the best position. If it is raining, it will dry quickly. The team is in top form and I think that this is our Rally." Latvala: “There was one corner when I thought I was in first but I was in second and I pulled third by mistake. The engine died just a tiny bit on the uphill but I quickly got it back. We only lost a couple of tenths but after a long time out of the car this was a good boost.
I am starting behind because we are counting on a dry Rally and the road will be clean." Loeb: "We are expecting not a lot of rain so we are prepared to start behind." Hirvonen: "Luckily we are not too far from Petter, Jari and Sebastien, although our QS was not so good." Novikov: "I am happy. We want to start as back as possible."
